Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways increased its revenues by 19 per cent to $1

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways increased its revenues by 19 per cent to $1.3 billion (€1 billion) in the third quarter of this year, while passenger numbers rose by 23 per cent to 2.79 million.

Etihad Airways, which owns just under 3 per cent of Aer Lingus, also yesterday confirmed a major code-sharing agreement with Air France-KLM, beginning on October 28th.

This will involve Etihad Airways and Air France-KLM offering joint codes on destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.

Air France has also agreed a codeshare with Airberlin, the German carrier in which Etihad Airways holds a 29.21 per cent stake.

Etihad said yesterday that its codeshare and joint marketing agreements with Airberlin had delivered $51 million in revenues to the UAE airline in the year to date.
