Want to be a singer but lack the talent? Couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket? So take the route of many so-called singers and rely on auto-tune to do the work. If you don’t have the luxury of an expensive studio and sound techs to do the work for you, there’s an app that can help. Songify has been available on the iPhone for a while now, but it’s only just made its way to Android. It provides you with a nifty way of turning speech into catchy tunes. All you have to do is record an audio sample into the app. It will then process the sample, adding a beat and some music. The end result is a (hopefully) catchy track that you can share with friends, family, and online strangers who don’t really care one way or the other about your childhood dreams of fronting a “serious” rock band. Internet stardom beckons.
