In this funny, winning little app game, the planet Blastron will look familiar: In fact, it's the planet earth, in which all that remain are the killer robots that destroyed their human creators. That's as far as the sci fi chin-stroking gets, though. Blastron is a wacky turn-based action/strategy game. Wait your turn in the battlefield while the other robots take potshots, and then take your own. There are shades of Worms, though Blastron is zanier and better looking. Touch screen works surprisingly well, it's got a good personality and there is variety to the gameplay. Weapons come in many shapes and sizes and it is strategic: use your turn to take cover, or to aim and fire your weapon, or both, if you're really skilled. This is a free-to-play game with its share of micro-transactions. Find friends on Facebook, spend a little cash to give your character a leg up – you know the drill. The developers believe – perhaps rightfully – that it's so addictive you'll be opening your wallet before you know it.
