On the outside, the Wii U Fifa 13 may look just the same as the Xbox and PS3 version. But the similarity doesn’t carry throughout the game. The Wii U version feels more like a step back to Fifa 12, with some of the key improvements that the franchise has made missing. Fifa 12 delivered solid, realistic game- play, but if you are expecting the level of detail and realism that made its way into the this year’s title, you’ll be disappointed. The GamePad is brought into it a bit. You can pick out spots on goal to shoot on the touch screen, and use the mini screen to get the players’ perspectives when taking free kicks and penalties. Shaking the GamePad to activate the shooting zone feels a little odd, though – it doesn’t really fit well with the game’s realistic target. The Wii U version also gives you a five-person multiplayer mode in which the GamePad holder is the manager. Fifa 13 on Wii U is still a solid game, but it lacks some of the polish of its console counterparts.
