Monday Night Combattakes place within a futuristic and sadistic gameshow. Taking plenty of inspiration from American football, MNCis a third-person shooter in which you fight other human combatants or a series of robots. There are plenty of power-ups and options: you can boost your jet pack or your firepower, or fortify your playing area with automated cannons and you can play in a variety of combat styles. So why isn't this more fun? Yes, the hardware is good, but blocking is virtually non-existent and the stadiums are too open a playing field. Although it's been generally favourably reviewed, this writer found the gameplay limited and repetitive. MNCis a frivolous and goofy game, and of course, there's nothing wrong with that. I just wish it was a bit more playable.
