From Fionn and Maggie to Daddy: ‘We have been so lucky to spend all that time with you’

Dear Daddy,

Since I’m only three years old and Maggie is just one, Mammy is writing this letter for the both of us.

Maggie and I have been so happy to have you at home with us for the past seven months while you have been looking for a new job. We have been so lucky to spend all that time with you.

You have brought us to the park every day and pushed us on the swings until your arms hurt.

On sunny days you took us to the beach with you and dug moats and made sandcastles and ran into the cold sea with us splashing. Even though you have been looking very hard for a job all this time, you were still the happiest Daddy to be around and always ready to play with us.

You are starting a new job in a few days and we are going to miss you so much. Even though we still have Mammy at home, it won’t be the same. She’s not as fun as you!

So thank you Daddy for being the best ever and for the best seven months together that we could ever have had.
