Our wedding story: From Rag Week to walking up the aisle

Annmarie Kelly and Barry McCartney met seven years ago and got engaged in Australia


Annmarie Kelly and Barry McCartney

Annmarie, from Stradbally, and Barry from nearby Camross, met eight years ago during Rag Week in Carlow when they were both students. The band who was playing at the time played at their wedding.

The couple moved to Australia in May 2012 where they spent two years. On St Patrick's weekend 2014 they got engaged on the Great Ocean Road.

On May 13th, 2016, they married in the sacred heart church in Stradbally and afterwards had their photos taken in Butler House, Kilkenny.

The bride's parents are Tom and Brigid and the groom's are Noel and Carmel.

Chief bridesmaid was the bride’s sister Aimee and the bridesmaids were Annmarie’s new sister-in-law Karen and friend Claire.

Barry’s brother Alan was his best man and the groomsmen were his friend James and the bride’s nephew Ian.

Page boy Darragh was Annmarie's nephew and the flower-girl Katelyn was Barry's niece.

At the reception in Kilkenny's Ormonde Hotel, the newlyweds had their first dance to Yours by Ella Henderson.
