The Limerick Christmas Crafts Bazaar takes place in the former Franciscan church on Henry Street today and tomorrow. The setting, with its high ceilings, 19th century frescoes and stained glass windows, is worth a look even if you don’t want to buy.

Drop by Ballyhoura Apple Farm’s stand to pick up some hot mulled juice as you tour the stalls selling ceramics, jewellery, hand-made cards and textiles. Call 087-274 3414 or see Facebook for more details.

Today, from 2-6pm, in the City of the Tribes, Galwegian children's authors Michelle Melville and Derek Mulveen will be reading from their book Oisín the Brave at the Galway Continental Christmas Market. There will also be mulled wine and local savories to sample. See galwaychristmasmarket.ie.

Cork's Christmas Celebrations on the city's Grand Parade put you front row at the Theatre of Food demonstrations taking place today and tomorrow. Just off the parade, Bishop Lucey Park has been transformed into a sugar plum fairy fantasy land with characters Captain Nutmeg and Captain Walnut on site to entertain you as you queue for rides on the helter skelter and other amusements. In Dublin, explore the depths of Christ Church Cathedral’s 12th century crypt where all the treasures of the cathedral are on view as well as a selection of Irish-made gifts.
