Niall Stokes, the editor of Hot Press, said that there is a “fantastic amount of talent in Ireland at the moment”. He discussed how Phil Lynott fans are annoyed that the US vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan used The Boys Are Back in Town when he arrived on stage at the Republican convention. Stokes said that Lynott’s mother, Philomena, was especially annoyed, as the Romney campaign is opposed to gay marriage and civil unions.
