Bouldering in Ireland: For those who don't know, bouldering is like rock climbing – but without the rope.

Practised on the lower reaches of crags, cliffs, boulders or on indoor climbing walls, bouldering is often pursued by experienced climbers in order to improve their techniques.

While bouldering is a niche activity there are significant numbers of enthusiasts to whom David Flanagan's new guidebook Bouldering in Irelandshould prove essential reading. With descriptions of over 1,700 routes at more than 100 locations around the country and complemented by great photographs and stories, this guidebook could attract many visitors to Ireland now that they know where to go.

The book, which will be in outdoors shops shortly, costs €15 and is available at theshortspan.com.
