The “see Wales from Mullaghcleevaun” walk starts from the Oasis (a popular walkers start-off point on the Sally Gap to Glendalough road) and includes Carrigshouk, Mullaghcleevaun (east and west), Billy Byrne’s Gap, Moanbane, Silsean and ends in Ballyknockan. Meet at 10am on Burgh Quay (bus €12). Second pick-up point at the pond, Sean Walsh Park, Tallaght bypass. Walkers should be properly equipped. See hillwalkersclub.com.

Bus and walk

The Dublin Mountains Partnership volunteer rangers are leading a guided 13.5km walk along a section of the Dublin Mountains Way on May 28th. Booking is essential and access to and from the trails is by the Dublin Mountaineer bus. It departs from Sandyford and Tallaght Luas stop and serves a number of locations in the Dublin Mountains. It also operates at weekends and bank holidays. A daily hop-on, hop-off ticket costs €5 and a family ticket €12. See dublinmountains.ie.

Walk and barbecue

Multiple Sclerosis Ireland has organised a scenic 10km charity walk and barbecue in Donard, Co Wicklow on Sunday, May 29th at 2pm. The event will include a barbecue with roasted pig on spit and live music at the Hunting Lodge, Donard. The fee for the walk and barbecue is €25.
