WHAT THE IRISH TIMES SAYS
Derry City is divided by the River Foyle. On one side is the Bogside and the other the Waterside. The Bogside is home to the larger centres of population and commerce. It is a mixture of residential and commercial buildings. Although there are cultural and religious divides within Derry/Londonderry, the people of the city are generally very warm and helpful to outsiders.

There are many routes in and out of the city. Like all cities, Derry suffers from traffic congestion at rush-hour. All major bus operators including Bus Éireann service Derry on a daily basis from Dublin and other cities. Derry City also has its own local bus service. City of Derry Airport is based approximately 10kms outside the city at Eglinton on the Derry to Coleraine Road. It is easily accessible by bike and there are many places to rent bikes but there are a lot of hills. From the Bogside, the Waterside is just a five minute walk away by footbridge across the Foyle.

Shoppers in Derry City are spoiled for choice with all the major brands located within the city. There are also dozens of local shops and many cafes and bars dotted throughout for the weary shopper to relax.

There are many hotels, guest houses and hostels for all pockets, plus a huge variety of eating places from expensive restaurants to simple greasy spoons.
