Satnav for cruise kids

The world’s largest cruise ship is so big that children will have to wear GPS wristbands to enable their parents to keep track of them aboard. The €1 billion Oasis of the Seas, which sets off on its inaugural week- long voyage next weekend, from Fort Lauderdale, in Florida, is the largest, widest, tallest, most expensive cruise ship afloat. Almost 6,300 passengers and more than 2,100 crew can travel aboard Royal Caribbean’s 225,000 ton vessel, which has 16 passenger decks.

EU airports will be able to waive the 100ml limit for liquids in hand luggage by upgrading their security equipment to detect liquid bombs if legislation drafted last week is approved by the European Parliament, writes Sasjkia Otto. The proposed law sets a deadline of April 29th, 2013, for all airports to adopt the equipment and lift the ban. As not all airports would have to change their rules at the same time, passengers could travel freely from some airports but have liquids confiscated at others. About 33,000 items have been confiscated at Dublin Airport since the limits were put in place, in 2006.
