Something for nothing in NYC

FREE WORLD:We're used to hotels offering complimentary spa treatments, meals and kids-stay-free deals to lure visitors but nyma (the new york manhattan hotel) has taken a different tack and is giving guests $20 (€15) to spend at a local flea market.

Located in mid-Manhattan, the hotel is promoting itself as a base for New York’s flea and artisan markets. The package costs from $164.99 (€125) per room per night in February and March and from $244.99 (€185) in April and May. This includes one night’s accommodation, a Hell’s Kitchen flea market canvas tote worth $13.99 (€10.61) and a voucher worth $20 (€15). Quote the code FLEA BUCKS at thenewyorkmanhattanhotel.com.

Catch: The hotel describes itself as "cheap and chic" but at $164.99 per room the only thing cheap is the canvas bag that is being thrown in

Trinity Capital offers lucky dip

The Trinity Capital Hotel on Pearse Street, Dublin 2 has been awarded four-star status and is offering guests a lucky dip to celebrate.

The four-star treats package costs €89 per room and includes BB for two and one of the following – a complimentary upgrade to a lavish executive suite, a bottle of bubbly on arrival, complimentary dinner and pre-dinner drink, or a 40 per cent discount off your next stay. trinitycapitalhotel.com

Take note: The hotel is an amalgam of interesting buildings. Tedcastle's Coal Merchants was based here, as was the British Army Recruiting Office in the early 20th century. Padraig Pearse was born a couple of doors down in 1879, and the hotel occupies what was once the Pearse family's back garden. The Dublin Fire Brigade had its headquarters close by and the hotel has preserved the original exterior of the station including the watchtower.

Catered chalets in the French Alps

Topflight has launched fully catered chalets in La Plagne or Les Arcs in the French Alps from €595 per person for a five-night stay.

It includes breakfast, homemade cakes and afternoon tea. High tea is served at 6pm for children 11 years and under and a three-course evening meal is supplied with unlimited red or white wine for five days with an additional fourth course (local cheese board with complimentary port) on the final evening.

Includes flights from Dublin to Geneva and transfer to and from La Plagne and Les Arcs.

Catch: With all that food, you might need to be airlifted onto the slopes.
