THERE IS still time to get close up with the four great kings of the Amazon: jaguars, pumas, parrots and peccaries (pig-like creatures) this summer with Biosphere Expeditions.

You can join a small international team in Peru working with local biologists on an important survey of these four species in a biodiversity hotspot with the aim of declaring the area protected and developing sustainable plans for this part of the Peruvian Amazon.

You will be working from hides observing macaws feeding on riverside clay licks, and studying peccaries, deer and top-end predators inside the rainforest while being based in a comfortable jungle lodge in a remote part of the forest. Expeditions run from June 5th to 17th, and June 19th to July 1st, and cost £1,220pp (€1,395) excluding travel to and from Peru.
