Travel Gear: golf gadgets, portable power and clever kayaks

Tracking your golf round, inflatable kayaking and tunes while you recharge

Arccos 360 Golf System It's said a golfer's real opponent is themselves. Well, find out why you're not beating yourself. Arccos is a pouch-sized golf tracking system, with 14 separate smart sensors to monitor every length, shot and hole, and feed it to your smartphone in real time. The sensors attach to the club handle, including a specific one for the putter. Once paired with your mobile, the app does the rest. Other than take the shot, of course. Some 40,000 courses have been loaded, so you'll know what went wrong and where. Oh and careful pulling out your phone on the course: you don't want to find yourself in front of the rules committee. iOS or Android compatible. €330 from apple.com/ie

Sevylor Inflatable Kayak Convenience is the big promise from Sevylor's range of inflatable kayaks and canoes. Because the great advantage of an inflatable is that you can store it easily and there's no need for a car rack to haul it around. Yet they're tough and stable. The mid-range Madison Premium, for example, offers simultaneous inflation of its three chambers to make it quick to get on the water. It comes with a metered pump, removable seats and fin, repair kit (hopefully not needed) and a carry bag. Sevylor Madison Premium €580 from bantry-bay-canoes.com

Veho Pebble Aria Power Bank There's another twist on the portable battery for power-hungry mobile devices with Veho's Pebble Aria. It also has a speaker, so you can enjoy some tunes while you're recharging your smartphone. Its 3,500mAh battery is good for two and a half charges if it's fully-juiced. The speaker gives out a pretty discreet 2W, so it won't quite drive the party, but could could nicely irritate those around you. €30 from maplin.ie
