Weather forecasts – every cloud has a silver lining

Sir, – We are three days now into a Met Éireann orange rain alert for Kerry.

This year’s “Optimist of the Year” award must go to Joanna Donnelly for her weather forecast on Tuesday where, after describing a rain front that was moving away from the country but is now coming back, she muses that the temperature is improving and comments, “At least it’s warm rain.”

That’s something to look forward to. I’ll dig out my bikini. – Yours, etc,
