Barry Geraghty confirms he will appeal 30-day ban

Barry Geraghty has confirmed he will appeal the 30 day ban under ‘non-trier’ rules he picked up at Limerick on Sunday.

The former champion jockey finished runner up on the JP McManus owned Noble Emperor in a handicap hurdle won by Velocity Boy, after which Geraghty picked up a suspension which rules him out of the Punchestown festival.

Noble Emperor was suspended from racing for 60 days in a stewards enquiry which also fined the horse's trainer Tony Martin €3,000.

“I will be lodging an appeal but I can’t make any further comment with the appeal pending,” said Geraghty who admitted to being “shocked” by the suspension immediately after the race.
