Leopardstown heavy after Christmas rains

Limerick will have to pass a Sunday morning inspection

Limerick will have to pass an 8.00am inspection on Sunday morning to see if its Day 2 card can be run, but despite the wet weather conditions no problems are anticipated for the rest of Leopardstown’s Christmas festival.

Ground conditions at the Dublin track are “heavy” after it was hit with an unanticipated 23mms of rain on Christmas Day and a further 10mms is expected to fall during the St Stephen’s Day action.

“It can take that 10mms with no difficulty. It won’t be pretty. It will be heavy ground but there are no problems,” said the Leopardstown manager Pat Keogh.

Limerick’s St Stephens Day fixture was cancelled after a morning inspection due to waterlogging.
