Wear it out: Rain or shine, always try to raise a smile when stepping out

This week, we meet up with freelance animator/illustrator Cesca Saunders. Cesca’s looks always stand out from the crowd; she is not afraid to wear bold colours and matches pieces from the high street with quirky designs that she picks up on her travels.

You can see her artistic flair in her outfit choices and her style is often an extension of her personality. We chatted to her about how she puts each look together and also how to keep an ethical conscience when shopping.

"I love knowing my clothes are sweatshop free so I was happy to invest in these. Plus, mom jeans are 90s fun times."

"Pretty sure I got this in Oxfam. I try to buy second hand whenever possible. Love the red and love being cozy."

"Got this on sale years ago. Always handy to have a simple dark coat on hand."

"Got this in Paris a couple weeks ago. I feel like a scientist or a murderer when I wear this, but mostly I feel dry and that makes me happy in the rain."

How would you describe your personal style?
"I like clothes with stories or that make people smile. My favourite pieces at the moment are my hat with cat/bear cub ears on top or my baseball jacket with loads of embroidered badges on it.

What are you looking forward to most this summer?
I'm a freelance animator/ illustrator, so this summer, I'm looking forward to working with other creatives on illustration and animation projects. I'm also looking forward to shedding the rain jacket for something lighter!
