Scent of summer: The best perfumes to buy now

While most of us have a favourite or “signature” — if we’re having notions about it — fragrance, scent is highly seasonal. The smoky and woody notes needed to cut through the heavy damp of Irish winter air can seem hysterically melodramatic and overdressed on a light summer breeze. At this time of year, make-up and hair change along with our wardrobe. Scent tends to go the same way. With fruits such as pear, blackcurrant and bergamot giving way to a floral heart that includes jasmine and lavender, it settles into a base of heavy hitters such as musk, vetiver and warm ambergris. This is one for those who like a scent that plays with gender norms, and gives you everything it’s got for every moment of wear time.
