ABP completes €50 million redevelopment of Cahir facility

ABP Food Group has completed the €50 million redevelopment of its facilities in Cahir, Co Tipperary.

The redevelopment, which was officially opened today by Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, has created 152 new jobs to date with more expected in the future.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said the announcement of 152 jobs as part of ABP’s investment in Cahir is “another sign of the progress, momentum and confidence in the Agri-food industry”.

Minister for the Environment, Community & Local Government, Alan Kelly said the investment is a strong vote of confidence in both the region and the people of Tipperary.

“ABP Food Group has been in Cahir for over 40 years and with over 600 people employed it has always been a big employer in the area,” he added.

ABP Cahir is now one of the biggest employers in the region employing 615 people directly.

ABP chief executive Paul Finnerty said the economic benefits of the redevelopment, particularly during construction, have been delivered during a difficult period for the local labour market.
