Deliveroo expands on-demand services to Waterford city

Company, which launched in the Republic in 2015, is now operating in five cities locally

Deliveroo is expanding to Waterford later this month, the fifth city in which it will operate in the Republic.

Deliveroo, which has seen a 50 per cent increase in the number of restaurants using its services since the start of the pandemic, says that it currently works with more than 1,000 self-employed riders.

Launched in London in 2013, the company operates in more than 500 cities and towns across 12 markets. The company first launched services in Ireland in 2015.

It offers deliveries from more than 1,800 restaurants here. In addition, its partnership with Aldi for grocery deliveries is available to an estimated 1.5 million shoppers. The company also has similar on-demand partnerships with, among others, Fallon and Byrne, Mace, Spar and Londis.

Deliveroo Ireland recorded a 40 per cent rise in turnover in 2019 as sales rose from €9.3 million to €13.8 million.

"Since 2015, Deliveroo has become embedded in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway and now we're looking forward to adding Waterford to that list," said Paddy Quinlan, growth manager.

“In addition to creating valuable opportunities for riders, our arrival in Waterford will be a boost to local restaurants who will be able to reach new customers and grow their businesses through food delivery.”
