Cosgraves going back to Romford . . .

The Cosgrave brothers, whose property group is back building houses all over Dublin, have struck a £140 million refinancing deal for their Liberty Shopping Centre on the outskirts of London. M&G Investments has stumped up the cash.

The Liberty is situated in Romford – Born Slippy, anyone? – which considers itself part of east London but is said by its detractors to be part of Essex, ground zero for people who snobs believe go shopping in their pyjamas.

The Cosgraves say the cash will be used to “partially redevelop the shopping centre in order to strengthen its appeal to local shoppers”.

That’s unlikely to mean a new juice bar and a Prada store.
