The Central Bank has warned consumers about an unauthorised investment firm operating in the Irish market.

Officials said the company, Ellis & Reid Investments, has not been given approval by the Central Bank to operate as an investment firm, investment business firm or to provide investment advice.

Those who do business with such unauthorised companies are not eligible for compensation from the Investor Compensation Scheme.

The Central Bank has published the names of 275 unauthorised firms since obtaining the necessary legal powers in August 1998.
