Hibernian has expanded its motor insurance discount scheme, offering a 5 per cent premium reduction to motor fleet drivers who sign up for the "How's My Driving" programme.

How's My Driving is an initiative allowing road users to report poor or aggressive driver by commercial drivers to a centralised number. Details are reported back to individual companies.

"Drivers are rarely reported for similar incidents on more than one occasion," said How's My Driving founder and managing director Mr Tom O'Sullivan. "Drivers who generate multiple reports are quickly identified."

Hibernian's director of broker underwriting Mr Michael Garvey said the majority of road accidents were caused by driver behaviour and attitude rather than a lack of driving ability. "How's My Driving is designed to affect driver behaviour and to make drivers more aware of how they are driving," he said.

"This should contribute to more responsible driving and fewer accidents."

Hibernian will offer the 5 per cent discount on both new and existing motor fleet policies, which are members of the programme from May 1st. "This is part of Hibernian's policy to reward safer driving with premium reductions," Mr Garvey said.

The majority of How's My Driving's client base comprises small and medium sized companies' commercial fleets.
