A watch that might save a diabetic’s life

Tech Tools: Glucose levels monitored and recorded

There are some wearables that make your life a little easier by forcing the smartphone out of your hand but still keeping you connected. Then there are wearables that might save your life. K’Watch Glucose is a wearable with a purpose: monitoring your blood glucose levels. For diabetics, it’s the difference between regular blood checks, and painless monitoring through the skin. The bracelet uses micro needles to collect samples of the interstitial fluid and check glucose levels. It doesn’t hurt, but causes more of a pressure sensation on the wrist. Results are displayed on the screen, and are also fed into the accompanying app so you can keep track of your levels over time. The device is expected to ship next year once it has got all its medical certification, but preorders are starting now.
