Dyson’s latest device offers ‘jet focus’

You can always trust Dyson to come up with some impressive sounding descriptions of its technology.

The latest is “jet focus”, which is apparently what makes its new generation of fan heaters better than the rest.

The AM09 is designed to switch easily between heating or cooling a whole room or just focusing on you. It’s based on a concept called the Coanda effect, which causes air to change direction as it travels over a surface.

Dyson built an airfoil shaped ramp into its AM09, which produces a narrow jet of air when you want to focus on one particular area; a second jet makes it heat or cool the entire room.

And like the other fan heaters and coolers in the Dyson range, it’s bladeless, which not only makes it safer but also makes it look a bit different to your average heater.
