Football clubs look forward to a record 600,000 attendances this season

Leading Irish football clubs can look forward to a record 600,000 attendances this season, predicts software developer Future Ticketing.

Fans are gearing up for the return of the SSE Airtricity Premier League this weekend.

Future Ticketing, which provides sales software to most of the game’s leading clubs, said on Wednesday that fans have already bought more than 15,000 season tickets through its systems.

The company calculates that clubs will lure a record 600,000 attendances this season, with opening games likely to sell out.

Host clubs, including Dundalk, Finn Harps, Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers are reporting strong demand for opening fixtures, whose home sides use Future Ticketing's software.

Liam Holton, chief executive, Future Ticketing, said sales for clubs using its software were up 19 per cent versus 2019.

“These clubs who are investing in digital transformation are seeing the greatest benefits as fans of all demographics shift their consumer patterns online,” he noted.
