KBC unveils new developer portal to bring new products to customers

New portal part of payment services directive to encourage innovation

KBC Bank has unveiled a new developer portal that will allow third party developers to bring new products and services to its customers.

The open Application Programming Interfaces (API) developer portal is open to trusted third parties, providing a secure sandbox environment for developers to access mock data under the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2). The data includes account information, payment initiation and funds confirmation.

"Over the past two years, KBC Bank Ireland has focused on the implementation of a new 'digital first' strategy and as a result continues to lead the market with a range of digital first solutions," said Kelvin Gillen, KBC's Director of Transformation and Innovation. "In opening our portal, we're inviting innovators and fintech firms to come and test their solutions in a secure environment, further fuelling technological integration and collaboration, fostering continued creativity and innovation in the sector."

PSD2 requires banks in Europe to make customer data available in a secure manner. |
