Web Log: Facebook introduces live video broadcasting

The first person to live stream was actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

After waiting to see how Periscope and Meerkat played out, Facebook has announced its own live streaming video feature. The difference is that Facebook is making this available to celebrities only. Otherwise your timeline would be clogged with gurgling babies, sleeping puppies and amazing, co-ordinated wedding dance routines. All live, all the time. Instead, you can catch a glimpse of the shiny, sparkling lives of "athletes, musicians, politicians and other influencers" who have the option to stream live video to their fans by putting a link out from their Facebook Mentions app.

The first person to live stream was actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, whose big guns and handsomeness didn’t distract from the crappy production quality and 30-plus minutes of a yawn-inducing workout session. Having said this, Facebook-embedded live streaming video could be great if used to broadcast compelling content.
