Aer Lingus and Impact in Labour Court talks today

Airline hopes to advise passengers today whether to expect strikes next week

A Labour Court hearing aimed at averting strike action by Aer Lingus cabin crew next week will continue in the afternoon.

Aer Lingus management and the trade union Impact, which represents the cabin crew, both made submissions to the Labour Court this morning.

The court also held a bilateral meeting with Impact. It will meet with Aer Lingus management in the afternoon.

It is expected the court will subsequently issue a recommendation to the parties.

Cabin crew at the airline are scheduled to strike next Monday and Wednesday. The stoppages could affect about 35,000 people on each day.

Aer Lingus again today urged the union to call off the strikes.

Impact said it had not been asked by the Labour Court to cancel the planned stoppages.
