Dalata closes Whites Hotel, Pillo Hotel acquisitions

Listed hotel group continues to expand at pace

Dalata Hotel Group said on Monday that it had completed its acquisition of Whites Hotel, Wexford and Pillo Hotel, Galway. Ireland's largest hotel operator had previously operated the management contract for the hotels.

In October Dalata announced it would acquire Whites, a four star hotel with 157 bedrooms which went into receivership in 2009. It was subsequently put on the market by Ulster Bank, and Dalata acquired the property in a package which also included the Clayton Hotel in Galway for €31.7 million.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission approved Dalata's acquisition of Whites in November.

In December Dalata agreed to acquire Galway’s Pillo Hotel for €10.5 million. The hotel is part of a chain developed by Neil O’Leary’s Ion Equity.
