Dublin’s ACIA Aero recruits Italian and Bangladeshi carriers as customers

Chief executive says company has done aircraft deals on ‘every major continent’ this year

Dublin-based ACIA Aero Leasing has recruited a new Italian carrier, Fly Leone and NXT Air in Bangladesh as new customers.

ACIA leases smaller aircraft to regional airlines. The company said on Tuesday that it had agreed to supply a Beechcraft 1900 turboprop to Leone and an ATR72 freighter to NXT.

Mick Mooney, ACIA chief executive, said that the company had done aircraft deals on "every major continent" so far this year.

Fly Leone will use the 19-seater Beechcraft to fly between regional airports and tourist destinations in Italy. NXT will use the ATR craft to transport goods for company partners.

Sameer Adam, ACIA senior vice president, said the company had to overcome significant challenges deliver the two planes to Italy and Bangladesh.

Stefano Costantini, chief executive officer, Fly Leone, indicated the airline would seek more aircraft from ACIA as demand for travel recovers from Covid restrictions.

Nizam Ahmad, chief executive officer, NXT Air, said the addition of the ATR 72 would support the company’s further growth.

ACIA has a fleet of more than 50 passenger and freight aircraft. It has offices in the Republic, France, South Africa and Mauritius.
