Ryanair and Aer Lingus forced to cancel flights

Ryanair cancels 56 flights due to strike by French air traffic controllers

Aer Lingus and Ryanair have cancelled a number of flights on Thursday due to a strike by French air traffic contollers.

Ryanair has cancelled 56 flights to, from and over France on Thursday, including flights between Dublin and Madrid, Carcassonne and EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg.

Aer Lingus has cancelled six flights; all on routes from Dublin to Franc. The cancelled Aer Lingus flights are:

Ryanair called on the European Commission to take action to prevent the skies over Europe being closed by French ATC union strikes.

This is the 51st French strike since 2009, and 11th in the past 12 weeks.

Ryanair advised customers travelling on Thursday to check the status of their flight on the website before travelling to the airport.
