Passenger numbers at Ryanair grew by 11 per cent in May, surprising some market analysts who had expected single-digit growth.

The number of passengers it carried in May this year rose to 7.15 million, compared to 6.47 million a year earlier.

The load factor in the same month climbed to 82 per cent from 81 per cent. Load factor represents the number of passengers as a percentage of the total seats available.
