Harry White and Barra Boydell, co-editors of UCD Press's landmark music publication, The Encyclopaedia of Music in Ireland, have been awarded the Harrison Medal by the President and Council of the Society for Musicology for Ireland. The formal presentation took place on June 17th in the Deanery of St Patrick's Cathederal in Dublin.

The medal is awarded to musicologists who have made an outstanding international contribution to the discipline of musicology. The council awarded two medals this year to recognise the contribution of the two recipients to the encyclopaedia, which was launched by President Michael D Higgins last October.
