Bulmers Forbidden Fruit Festival

We like the title, and we like the line-up. What more can we ask for, apart from a bit of sunshine? Actually, a festival like this has been a long time coming, one that combines music, art, fashion and simple good vibes into a two-day, city-based event. No getting into the car and negotiating rural roads that wouldn’t recognise a signpost if they saw one.

Over two days you’ve got the likes of Flaming Lips (above), Jape, Wild Beasts, Yo La Tengo, the Phoenix Foundation, Aphex Twin, Jamie xx, Battles, Caribou, Solar Bears, Bitches with Wolves, Ham Sandwich and Bipolar Empire. Expect several stages on a site that is constructed in the shape of an apple. (Forbidden fruit? Sponsor product? Geddit?)

Watch out, too, for the Bulmers Shuttle Bus trundling along the quays with free transport to the venue for ticket holders.
