GAME REVIEW:3 cert, Empty Clip Studios PSN (also PSP, Wii, Xbox 360) ***
At first glance Groovin' Blockslooks like a rip-off of Tetris. Previously just a Wii game, it's a puzzler consisting of falling blocks that disappear when they're properly aligned. So it's not a stretch to say that the new kid takes more than a few pages from the old classic.
The music makes a huge difference. If you align the blocks at just the right moment, in rhythm with the music, you’re rewarded with points and some bonus tricks. This all takes place to the sound of pleasant electronica, and the blocks vibrate to the beat. These blocks remain rectangles (not changing shape, as in Tetris), so it’s the common colours that you must align. You can play multiplayer (co-operatively or competitively) and compare stats online.
It may be limited, but
Groovin' Blocksis a slick, gently addictive playing experience.
