It wouldn't be a children's film without the obligatory video game tie in. How to Train Your Dragonputs you in the middle of the Viking era, where you must become the ultimate dragon wrangler. Take on the role of Hiccup or Astrid and teach your dragon how to fight, running it through various training exercises.
The game itself, like the film, is colourful, with some great detail put into the dragons themselves. It falters slightly when it comes to the battles themselves. Combo attacks are an integral part in emerging victorious; the problem is that you learn pretty quickly that it can be better to stick to a few tried and tested moves, which leaves things feeling a little stale after a while.
Mini-games are a welcome addition, and multiplayer mode puts you head to head with friends, but you can’t help but feel the makers should have taken advantage of the Wii’s motion-sensitive controls a little more.
