You'd be forgiven for thinking that Pokémon had long since retreated to the great Poke Ball in the sky. The truth is it was just biding its time. Pokémon Heartgold/Soulsilveris a reissue of the classic Gameboy titles, if such a term can be used to describe Pokémon games. The remake for the Nintendo DS has been given some updated graphics and gameplay enhancements, such as the ability to toggle running. Players can also interact with Pokémon outside battle, or use wireless technology to interact with each other.
The game also nods to the craze for exercise in the form of the Pokéwalker, a pedometer bundled with the game that allows you to transfer one of your Pokémon to the walker and earn watts while you walk. These watts can be used to catch wild Pokémon or search for hidden items, increase your Pokémon’s experience points and connect wirelessly with other players to earn gifts.
