The good thing about owning a smartphone is that most of the annoying niggles can usually be sorted by simply downloading an app. If you have an Android phone and you’re less than enamoured with the keyboard – minute keys, or simply so close together that your typing looks more like you tried to mash the screen with your fist – you should try SwiftKey 3.

The app not only gives you a usable keyboard, it also allows you to personalise it. A quick scan of your Twitter, Facebook, email and SMS messages will give it enough to learn some of your key phrases. The upshot of this is that it makes it more accurate, and it can then make better predictions about what you are typing, so you could type whole sentences with a couple of keystrokes.

The more you use it, the more it learns, so it will help correct your common errors without you having to do a thing. It’s available in a trial version and a paid for app.
