Irish contemporary folk band Lankum, comprised of Ian Lynch, Daragh Lynch, Radie Peat and Cormac MacDiarmada, took the prize for best folk group. They also won the best folk album award for their fourth album, False Lankum. The group missed out on the 2023 Mercury music prize for the same record in September.

“I am delighted and honoured to accept this award for my life in music. It is lovely and heartwarming to be acknowledged in such a way, and I am very grateful for this special recognition of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards,” Ní Dhomhnaill said.
