She has had more than her share of naysayers over the years, but with Lifelines(which gathers songs pivotal to her life), Andrea Corr not only dumps the tepid image of The Corrs but lays out a range of possible futures. Vocally she excels across an eclectic selection, from the radio- friendly familiar (Roy Orbison's Blue Bayou, Donna Summer's State of Independence, John Lennon's No 9 Dream)to the late-night cultish (Velvet Underground's Pale Blue Eyes, Blue Nile's Tinseltown in the Rain, Nick Drake's From the Morning, Nilsson's Lifeline, Ron Sexsmith's Tomorrow in Her Eyes, and Daniel Johnston's Some Things Last a Long Time. The latter four, in particular, are superb, while the album overall will surely, justifiably, re-establish Corr as a valid if low-key artist.
