The London quarted led by Justin Young have been credited with singlehandedly restoring the garage to its rightful place as the most important room in the house. With their twanging guitars, pogo-stick rhythms and Young’s teen-wolf howl, the band have plundered myriad influences from rock’s attic to mix up their own vintage voodoo magic.

The Vaccines Come of Age is packed with punchy pop hooks and riffs to make you go vroom, but is sadly a little thin on killer rock anthems. No Hope is a strong, Libertinesque opener, and Teenage Icon has zit-bursting immediacy, but its effects wear off quicker than sugar. Ghost Town and Weirdo have a twisted charm of their own, and I Wish I Was A Girl and Aftershave Ocean are refreshing splashes of teen spirit, but is it the best this band can get?

Still, The Vaccines Come of Age is better than a lot of the rest, so kick back and enjoy its cheap, catchy thrills. thevaccines.co.uk
