Kitty, Daisy & Lewis: The Third | Album Review

All in their early-to-mid teens when they first started recording and releasing music, rockabilly revivalists Kitty, Daisy and Lewis Durham have grown up a little for their third album. The Londoners have tentatively shaken off the pastiche element of their sound, although at times it sounds like even they're not quite convinced. The classic rock'n'roll vibe is still evident on Good Lookin' Woman and the loose, twangy harmonica slouch of It Ain't Your Business, but the uplifting, string-laden Turkish Elvis charters new territory. Elsewhere, their laidback strut falls a little flat. Mick Jones of The Clash produced this album; for the next one, it might be wiser to engage a confident co-writer who can confidently steer them through this transitional phase. kittydaisyandlewis.com
