Formerly of the rather wonderful ambient/motorik groups Stereolab and Monade, French musician and songwriter Laetitia Sadier is a perfect example of someone sticking to what they do best in that she refines, over and over again, her artistic motifs of subtle electronic shifts underpinned by gently insistent rhythms of the Krautrock variety. If there's a change from Sadier's previous two solo albums (2010's The Trip, 2012's Silencio), then it's with the song content, which references collective fate of humanity, class systems, and liberation from certain social tyrannies. In lesser hands, such topics might come across as po-faced or borderline beige (a new colour, apparently) , but Sadier's lyrical wryness cuts through any potential for boredom – particularly on songs as meet-cute as The Milk of Human Tenderness, The Scene of the Lie, Oscuridad, and Release from the Centre of your Heart.
