For his second album as NZCA Lines, Michael Lovett is looking to the stars and what strange lives lie beyond.
Infinite Summer is a collection of breezy, silky, harmonic electropop which doesn't hide its futuristic desires for some sci-fi boogie.
Lovett has been joined by new members Charlotte Hatherley (Bat For Lashes, Ash) and Sara Jones (Hot Chip) for this odyssey, the ensemble making their arsenal of synths and strings swoon on evocative tracks like the glorious Two Hearts and Chemical Is Obvious.
NZCA Lines occasionally trade in melancholic nostalgia, but it doesn’t hamper how the tracks develop into sumptuous, resplendent grooves.
Given there are some occasions when the material seems to have run out of new road, it will be interesting to hear where Lovett heads next.
