After an injury curtailed her ballet career, Denmark's Nanna Oland Fabricius turned her attention to left-field pop, with captivating results. Wish Bone is produced by TV on the Radio's David Sitek and released on his label. There's plenty to admire on the songs, which recall other idiosyncratic pop contenders (Lykke Li, Bat for Lashes, Feist). Fabricius seeks to broaden that well-seasoned template by pushing herself and her songs in different directions. Her efforts to find new ground, as on the timeless drama of Love You Better and the smart premier league pop expanses of My Boxer, provide the best reasons to be cheerful. Fabricius maintains her off-kilter approach, with fascinating treatises on feminism and modern life. ohlandmusic.com
