At this stage, the “retro garage-rock” genre has been explored so comprehensively that it’s difficult to see how any band could breathe new life into what has become a formulaic sound.

The Parrots are not here to offer a solution, but the Madrid three-piece’s debut is listenable and even quite likeable in parts.

The fuzzy, loose swing of tracks such as Let's Do It Again and the T-Rex-style glam stomp of Windows 98 fizz with an energetic familiarity, while Jame Gumb delivers a menacing psychedelic hum to the tracklisting.

There is a sloppiness to the trio's rough- round-the- edges approach at times – not least on the indecipherable lyrics of EA Presley – but these short, sharp bursts of sound offer a flimsy sense of enjoyment.
